Meeting with Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC)

On Feb 23 2017, Dr. Nguyen Tung Phong, - Genaral Deputy Director of VAWR met with ADPC at VAWR office.

Participating the meeting, there were representatives from member institutes of VAWR, namely IWE, Center for Water Resources Software Technology, Center for Training and International Cooperation, Planning Dept and research group of remote application technology.

       ADPC is headed by Dr. Peeranan Towashiraporn - Project Leader SERVIR - Mekong, ADPC; Dr. Hamid Mehmood - Head of Capacity Development for SERVIR - Mekong, ADPC; Dr. Peter Cutter - Coordinator of Science and Data Department of SERVIR - Mekong Project, ADPC; TS. Chusit Apirumanekul - Technical expert of the SERVIR - Mekong project, ADPC.

 At the meeting, ADPC representatives presented the tools of the SERVIR-Mekong project including RHEAS, Web-WASP, real-time monitoring tools, etc. VAWR introduced Web-based GIS products for reservoir management and automatic irrigation management developed and implemented by the Academy. The two sides discussed the following cooperation between VAWR and ADPC, including the development of technical tools, training and capacity building

Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Tung Phong expected that ADPC would become a reliable and long-term partner, and participate in training projects to improve the capacity and training programs of the Academy such as the project to build a regional training center and Master's program in cooperation with Koeln University – Germany.
 VAWR and ADPC agreed to hold quarterly meetings to review the work done and to plan the next steps for following cooperation.
