Greater Mekong Forum on Water-Food and Energy

From October 21 to 23, in Phnom Penh – Cambodia is ongoing Greater Mekong Forum on the theme of water resources, food and energy development. Delegates of the forum come from 137 countries and international organizations.

In this year, the forum was co-organized by the Program “Soil-Water and Ecosystems in Greater Mekong region (WLE-Greater Mekong) and the Ministry of Environment of Cambodia and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), is funded by the Australia government.

The delegation of the Vietnam Academy for Water Resources are led by Assoc. Dr Nguyen Tung Phong, Deputy Director and MSc. Nguyen Thi Anh Tuyet, Acting Director of the Center for Training and International Cooperation with 15 delegates from institutes such as the Institute for Water and Environment, Hydraulic Construction Institute and partners under the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment, Water Resources University, and the Institute for Technology and Resources Management in tropics and subtropics (ITT), University of Applied Sciences Cologne - German Federal Republic.

Greater Mekong Forum is being organized in order to: 1) Increasing knowledge about the debate concerning the water development and management in the Greater Mekong region; 2) create conditions for the delegates may jointly offer solutions to the challenges of water resource development; and 3) create a favorable environment for increasing mutual understanding and development of partner relations between government institutions, non-governmental and civil society organizations from the countries.
