This was an activity in the cooperation agreement between VAWR and Deltares (Netherlands) and continuation of the work program of Deltares’ expert at VAWR in late April, 2016.

On the side of VAWR, there were Associate Professor Ph.D. Nguyen Vu Viet – Director of VAWR, Associate Professor Ph.D. Nguyen Tung Phong – Deputy Director of VAWR, and representatives of CTIC and Key Laboratory of River and Coastal Engeneering (KLORCE). On the side of Netherlands Embassy, there was Mr. Tom Kompier - First Secretary Water sector and Climate; additionally, it also had the attendance of Deltares Institute’s representative – VAWR’s partner in research.

At the meeting, the Academy discussed with the Netherlands Embassy on cooperation programme between VAWR and Deltares in the management of riverbank erosion in the Central of Vietnam. Associate Professor Ph.D. Nguyen Vu Viet – Director of VAWR also introduced the idea of the proposal on managing riverbank erosion in Vietnam – this was the results of cooperation between VAWR and Deltares after working trip of the specialist, Allessio Giardino at VAWR in April, 2016; besides that, he proposed support from Netherlands Embassy for this research activity as well. The Embassy discussed and noted comments from the Academy, and committed to support the Academy in sending Dutch expert to work with the Academy in building proposals as well as transferring technology in the near future and furthermore, they also committed to support the Academy in seeking for financial resources.
